Multiple app templates versus multiple components in a single template

Hey all,

We're working on expanding application monitoring in Solarwinds, and we're trying to decide between designing application monitor templates with multiple components, or using multiple application templates.

Example: A given server hosts an IIS site.  Aside from using AppInsight for IIS, let's say we want to monitor some ports on the server, maybe a URL or two, and maybe an SSL certificate.

All of these monitors are available, but how do we decide between putting all of them in a single template, versus linking multiple templates to the server?  Is it strictly preference or is there a best practice?
