I have some 1Gbps interfaces on a couple routers that have a 1 minute statistics collection interval.
I would like to see a handful of metrics for each interface in custom charts (one interface, 6 metrics, 1 custom chart).
In the custom chart config:
- I select a single 1Gbps interface within the Data Source
- Time Period is 24 Hours
- Left Y-AXIS Units displayed is Bit/s
- Chart type is Line
- Show the sum of all data series is deselected
- In Data series I have:
- Peak Transmit bps
- Peak Receive bps
- Average Transmit bps
- Average Receive bps
- Right Y-AXIS Units displayed is empty
- Chart type is Column
- Show the sum of all data series is deselected
- In Data series I have:
- Discards (Transmitted + Received)
- Errors (Transmitted + Received)
- The sample Interval is 5 minutes
- Filter results is configured to show all records
When the chart loads, peak receive for the entire time period is 44.7Mbps.
When I zoom in on that peak, peak receive changes to 85.1Mbps. Charts pasted below.
If peak receive is 85.1 at 11:15 AM, I would think I should see 85.1 whether I'm looking at a time span of 24 hours or 2 hours.
If the sample interval for peak receive is 1 day over a 1 day period, peak receive should be 85.1.
If the sample interval for peak receive is 1 hour over a 1 day period, there should be 24 peak receive values and 85.1 should be the biggest.
If you summarize data to a point where the metric name no longer applies, there should be some sort of indicator or message that tells the consumer they need to drill down to see actual peak.
