SMTP Problem

I have an odd problem.  On my Network Performance Monitor, my alerts are being sent successfully via SMTP.  However, on my Network Configuration Manager with the same SMTP Settings, SMTP is not working on my Job Notifications and I get a, "The transport failed to connect to the server." error.  Any idea what the problem may be???
