I've seen a wide variation in discounts between VAR's who sell Cisco (or other) Network Switches and Routers. Some VAR's only give 35-40% off List Price, others discount it even more--perhaps even up to 65% off List.
Perhaps you have a VAR that gives you deeper discounts if you sign up for a guaranteed purchase amount, or targeted purchase levels, on an annual or quarterly basis.
Some VAR's also offer Internet Services, WAN circuits, troubleshooting services, etc., and may offer incentives in those additional services if you buy your network hardware solely from them. This makes it tough for other VAR's to resell you new Cisco equipment if they can't match your current VAR's rates, or if your current WAN or ISP costs increase if your WAN/ISP/Hardware seller sees your hardware purchases going elsewhere.
