Orion Additional Web Server is missing Cisco UCS option when adding/editing a Node

I may have stumbled on a bug with the Additional Web Console. When trying to add a new node the Cisco UCS options are missing.

 

Steps to recreate:

  1. Log into the Additional Web Console.
  2. Click Settings > Manage Nodes > Add Node.
  3. Type in the IP address of the UCS node, choose SNMP/ICMP,
  4. The Cisco UCS option is missing.

So on the Additional Web Console server the VMware polling settings are there but not Cisco UCS options.

 

 

 

The good news is that our primary poller server is still running the Orion Web Console and the Cisco UCS options do show up there. On the primary poller server:

  1. Log into the web console on the primary poller server.
  2. Click Settings > Manage Nodes > Add Node.
  3. Type in the IP Address of the UCS node, choose SNMP/ICMP.
  4. The Cisco UCS option displays normally. We are able to move forward with adding in the UCS node.

Here are the details of our environment:

  • Orion Additional Web Server configuration:
    • Additional Web Server v2015.09.22
    • Orion Core 2015.1.2 Hotfix 6 installed
    • SSL only enabled
  • Primary Poller configuration:
    • NPM v11.5.2
    • Orion Core 2015.1.2 Hotfix 6 installed
    • NPM v11.5.2 HF 1 through 3 installed. (HF 4 is NOT installed at this time)
    • SAM v6.2.2
    • SAM 6.2.2 Hotfix 1 and 2 installed
  • 5 Additional Poller Servers - total of 5, all running exactly the same listed below:
    • Orion Network Performance Monitor(NPM) Additional Polling Engine v11.5.2
    • Server and Application Monitor (SAM) Additional Polling Engine v6.2.2
    • Orion Core 2015.1.2 Hotfix 6 installed
    • NPM v11.5.2 HF 1 through 3 installed. (HF 4 is NOT installed at this time)
    • SAM 6.2.2 Hotfix 1 and 2 installed

 

Our environment is fully updated except for NPM 11.5.2 HF4 installed on our primary and additional pollers. The official documentation DOES say that the NPM hotfixes need to be installed on the additional web console servers but I was never able to do so. Not sure if this is the reason why the UCS options do not appear.

 

I'll open up a support ticket for this issue. It is our expectation to only need to log into the additional web console to manage our entire environment.
